YTEX Quadro Twist Black Tennis String

Exciting times here at Inspired Tennis! For the second week in a row, I have the pleasure of introducing a new tennis brand and new tennis string. Last week, it was Tier One Triumph, and now it is YTEX Quadro Twist Black. Toward the end of the following video, I discuss some impressive USRSA playtest results for Quadro Twist – check it out…

Thanks for checking in.

I have to admit I wish you’d go back to the ‘good ole days’ when we got your playtest and opinion versus your beloved Alu Power Rough.

Seems you’re more ‘on message’ these days and there’s more focus on the free string giveaway when I’d much rather you keep all the sets and give your own opinion.

If this is a more successful business model though I’m happy for you though and wish you well.

Hey Elliott – Thanks for the message and for your candid feedback. I will attempt to incorporate more play-testing in the future but cannot make any promises as to how often. I am extremely busy with my main corporate job, my kids’ sports activities, and stringing, and I don’t get much time these days to play. On the rare occasion I get to play, I prefer to stick with “my beloved Alu Power Rough”. I am simply a creature of habit.:)

You are correct in that I stay “on message” with my string overview videos. When I’ve done play-test reviews in the past, I’ve been blasted by folks who do not agree with my opinion. Their disagreement is completely understandable as the playability of strings is extremely subjective. For example, I may love a string; you may hate it. I may think a string bites really well; you may think it doesn’t add much spin at all. And so on.

So with this in mind, I purposely stick to facts… String material and construction, goals of the brand when designing the string, available colors, available gauges, and so on. Based on my knowledge of strings and styles of play, I try to give some general insight as to what type of player might benefit from the string I’ve covering – and also provide a stringing perspective – for the stringers who follow my site.

From time to time, I will attempt to play-test. For example, I am very interested in hitting with YTEX Quadro Twist Black and Luxilon 4G, so hopefully you’ll see some play-test thoughts from me on those strings. For the most part though, my focus will continue to be on informing players and stringers about new strings on the market, providing general overviews, and yes… conducting string giveaway contests.

While there isn’t much of a “business model” to my site (I currently sell a handful of Learn To String DVDs every month.), I will say that the string giveaway contests are incredibly popular. Most people love free (or discounted) stuff. It’s funny… I used to do some email marketing consulting for a performance road bicycle company. In every email newsletter, we had great articles about new performance bikes, endurance training, sponsored athletes, etc. We also always had a link to our “Clearance Hanger” for discounted bikes and parts. When we analyzed the popularity of various sections of the newsletter (based on clicks), the “Clearance Hangar” was, by far and away, the most popular section.

I value all of my Inspired Tennis followers and again, appreciate your candid feedback. I hope I can strive to find a mix of content that resonates well with almost all of my followers – including you.

    Take care.
