U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship Stringing Room

Special thanks to Scott and Matt Guenther for sending me these great pictures from inside the stringing room and around the grounds at the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship in Houston. The stringers, Randy and Gary, informed Scott and Matt that they’ve been stringing more Luxilon Alu Power than any other string – with Babolat RPM Blast coming in a close second. As you can see in the pictures below, the stringers are using Prince 5000 stringing machines.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing. I don’t know much, so pardon my ignorance… so are Randy and Gary the only two stringers for this tournament? Or is this just one stringing room of several?

Hey Mike – thanks for the comment/question. These stringing room pics were provided to me from a couple of my loyal blog followers, so I don’t have first-hand knowledge of the exact stringing setup at this tournament – but here is my guess… This definitely the only stringing room. Some stringing rooms are large (with many stringers and machines) and some are small (like this one with only a couple), but usually, there is only one stringing room per tournament. I’m guessing that Randy and Gary are the only stringers at this event – perhaps there is one other helping out. The singles draw for this event is a 32 man draw with four byes – so only 28 players. Therefore, they don’t need too many stringers. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for checking in.

For the record 2011 stringers were Randy Gibson, Chuck Hakansson and helping out a few nights was Chris Cheng

Thanks Chuck – Sorry for leaving you out. đŸ™‚ It was second-hand information passed along from a couple of my Inspired Tennis followers. I guess I need better sources. đŸ™‚ Take care.
