Tourna Big Hitter Blue Rough Tennis String

A new tennis string… Tourna Big Hitter Blue Rough was recently reviewed by the USRSA in RSi Magazine. Check out the video below where I discuss this review and other aspects about this new string. Then… Check back – as I plan to playtest Big Hitter Blue Rough soon – and I’ll certainly post another review.

Thanks for checking in.

Looks like the genesis blue typhoon. Anyway I think we may like the big hitter silver rough better (same stiffness as alu rough – only available at TW so far).

    Look forward to the review.

Hey Elliott – Yeah, it looks similar to Genesis Blue Typhoon. There are several shaped and then twisted polys out on the market these days. Looks like a popular trend. Thanks for the tip on Big Hitter Silver Rough. If Blue is decent, I may have to try Silver.

    Take care.

Let me know how the play test goes.

  4. David Henry says:

Will do, David. The set of Big Hitter Blue Rough arrived yesterday, and I’ll likely string it up and play with it Wednesday night in my singles league. I’ll post a a video review shortly after that. Thanks for visiting my blog. Take care.

Thanks for the post! I’m really interested in BHBR’s tension maintenance. What I find odd about the RSi review is that the string lost 21 lbs. in their lab testing (which seems normal for a poly) but the playtesters gave it a 3.7.

Maybe the playtesters rated it better in tension maintenance because it plays softer, and they didn’t notice the drop?

  6. David Henry says:

Hey J. I strung it up yesterday and immediately measured the Dynamic Tension with my Beers ERT 300. I’ll check it tonight – about 30 hours later (of no play) to see how much it decreased. Then… I’ll likely use it Wednesday night. More to come, my friend. Take care.

  7. David Henry says:

J – Right after stringing, I recorded a Dynamic Tension (DT) of 42. Approximately 30 hours later without having played with it, I recorded a DT of 39 – representing a 7.14% decrease. This is almost exactly what the USRSA reported in their article. (They reported a 7% decrease in 24 hours of no play.) More to come…

This string sound very promising. It has lots of positive reviews so far.

  9. David Henry says:

Hey B. I’ll hit with it Wednesday night and will post a review as soon as possible.

This might be a little off topic, but have you heard of the Tourna Big Hitter Silver Rough? I’d like to hear some feedback on that string. The blue rough….isn’t very rough.

  11. David Henry says:

Someone else recently commented on the Silver as well – saying it has the same stiffness as Alu Power Rough. Never tried it. I’ll try the Blue this week and see how that goes.

    Take care Man.
