Client Spotlight: Keith Neargarder

An Inspired Tennis client for over a year now, Keith Neargarder is an extremely tenacious 4.0 player with incredibly steady groundstrokes, a big serve, and a strong net game.

In our Men’s 4.0 League at South Regency Tennis Center, I’ve had some tough battles with Keith over the past year.  He runs down shot after shot, and he truly makes you earn every single point you get.  If you’re at all tired, Keith isn’t the guy you want to play – as he’ll make you hit a ton of balls and will keep you on the court for quite a while.  In fact, there is a common belief among our league members that if you’re scheduled to play Keith, you better plan on walking off the court at the club’s closing time of 10:00 PM.  (Matches start at 8:00 PM and are supposed to be over by 9:30 PM.  Rarely is that they case when playing Keith.)

In addition to his solid, steady groundies, Keith has a very strong serve that he often follows to the net for easy put-away volleys.  He used this strategy well recently – knocking off an excellent 4.5 player who subbed in our league.

Keith plays with the ever popular Wilson [K] Six.One racquet and uses the following string setup:

Mains:  Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour 16G
Mains Tension:  58 lbs.
Crosses:  Prince Synthetic Gut with DuraFlex 16G
Crosses Tension:  60 lbs.

The Pro Hurricane Tour mains give Keith the durability and playability associated with a polyester string, and the Prince Synthetic Gut crosses soften up the overall stringbed slightly and add a little extra touch.

Keith has also entrusted me with putting Wilson Replacement Grips on all of his sticks.

Keith plays out of South Regency Tennis Center in Springboro, Ohio.

Thanks for checking in.
